Correspondence collection

The correspondence collection, along with the library, is one of the stocks with the greatest documentary value. Itis comprised of around 95,000 letters exchanged between Camilo José Cela and almost 13,000 different political, social and cultural personalities from the second half of the 20th century.

Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it includes both letters received by Camilo José Cela and copies of the letters he sent, wich he always had typed out with a carbon copy underneath, preserved in Iria Flavia. 

Missives with other Nobel Prize-winning writers, such as Gabriel García Márquez or Vicente Aleixandre, authors of Generation of 1898 as Azorín or Baroja, authors of Generation of 1927 as Rafael Alberti, Gerardo Diego, Jorge Guillén and Dámaso Alonso for example, letters exchanged with Américo Castro, Max Aub, Francisco Ayala, María Zambrano and, in short, multiple personalities of the time, gathered in a magnificent collection essential for the investigation of the Spanish postward culture period.
